What impressed me was that the pitches were given by startups that have more or less validated their business model and most are generating revenue, which is slightly different from many of the events we attend that usually have alot of startups who’s in the very early stage and most do not have a business model.

We spent 2 full days, okay, 1.5 days because we could not reach at 9am, which is the time the event starts, its way too early for us, and we had to still go back to office to settle our work stuff first. There were about 50 startups booths, and startups were from all over Asia, met a few familiar faces and many friends in the event. Singapore is small, the tech scene is so much smaller, we should really all start looking regional from Day 1, and we are glad we always had this mindset.

All in all, we met up with a lot of friends, made new friends, and as usual, you get the one or two high profile investors who act like they own Singapore, oh well, you probably will get these all over the world, but still we love the event, it keeps us abreast of the events in the startup scene and allows us to see what’s hot and what’s not.

PS: We loved the afterparty event after DAY 1, but the location, which was the Loof at Oden Towers was really sucky, I mean the concept is really cool, open air and all, but in Humid and Hot Singapore, it is terrible, even at night when it’s supposed to be cooler, it shouldnt be called the Loof, it should be known as The Sweaty.

It was a pretty well done event, considering that they had a small team to pull it off, the only improvement I think should be the booths for startups section, which was too small and narrow, but that’s probably due to the space constraint and I’m sure the next time will be better.

The entire event was pretty well scheduled and we met lots of budding entrepreneurs like ourselves, from Singapore as well as from the regional countries. It’s pretty good to see that in our industry, people like Tech in Asia and e27 are doing a wonderful job in reaching out to the regional entrepreneurs which in turn creates a well-balanced eco-system in Asia.

Let’s hope that this carries on in the near future and Singapore gets more and more recognition as one of Asia’s or even one of the World’s Tech Hub!

When we develop iphone apps, most of the time we come up with new designs, but there are also times when we get our inspiration from others, in fact our view is if we can get a really great design that can be used commercially, why reinvent the wheel, but fret not, all these are discussed with our clients and we do it only with their approval when developing their iphone or ipad app. (We give credit where its due)

So instead of keeping all these resources to ourselves, we have decided to start a separate category to share useful tutorials,  graphics with all of you out there, whether you are our competitor or not, it doesn’t matter, let’s all make the web a better and prettier place

Oh, and not all the resources that we will be sharing will be free stuff or goodies, there may be premium products or graphics that we think are value for money and will also share it on our blog. So stay tuned for our first installment of free resources….

Our new year resolution is to be one of Singapore’s top iPhone and iPad app developers and we will achieve that goal by constantly churning out quality projects for our clients.
